Buhari, el-Rufai making lawless statements to scare voters – Tapgun

Kingsley Chukwuka, Jos

A stalwart of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and a Nigerian former Ambassador to Kenya, Sir. Fidelis Tapgun, has said the statement credited to President Muhammadu Buhari, and Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state, are lawless and aimed at scaring electorates who have made up their minds to vote the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) out of power. Recall that President Buhari had early on Monday while speaking at a national caucus meeting of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja, said ballot box snatchers would pay with their lives as security agencies had been given the go ahead to be ruthless with them. Also, El-Rufai had said foreign observers who interfere with the elections will go back in ‘body bag’. However, Tapgun who is also a former governor of Plateau state said the negative comments made by the duo were part of the grand design to manipulate the polls. Tapgun told Journalists on Tuesday in his Jos residence, while reacting to the postponement of the general elections, that Buhari’s comment is irresponsible and laughable. “President Buhari has presided over this country for close to four years and killings has been going on and yet he has not directed the military to shoot at sight anybody they see killing people; but for elections that is the civil right of every Nigerian, he has directed security agencies to shoot and kill people, this is jungle justice and dictatorship. “Nigerians has gone beyond dictatorship, and since Buhari has chosen to remain a dictator, Nigerians will fight him like they fought late Sani Abacha, who was a dictator. “If we fought Abacha to a standstill, then Buhari’s case is a small one, we will resist him! “We don’t blame President Buhari because he is sick and like we all know sickness can make you say what you don’t want to say”, Tapgun said.”
