Bello proposes N11b supplementary budget, seeks Assembly approval

In a bid to take care of certain areas of economic development that were not previously captured in this year’s budget, the Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has submitted a supplementary budget of N11billion for the 2017 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly.

In a letter sent to the Assembly seeking its approval of the supplementary budget, the governor stated that it would enable the administration continue in executing its projects and programmes.

The governor also said that the supplementary budget will address security issues and other obvious sectors and challenges that are within and outside the current approved budget.

The governor had earlier in the year signed N174.8billion appropriation bill into law after it was approved by the state assembly.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Imam, after reading the letter before his colleagues, directed the Majority Leader, Hon. Mathew Kolawole, to slate it on the order paper for consideration at the next legislative day.

The house is expected to consider the governor’s request when members resume sitting today.
