The Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), has called on the federal government to take proactive measures in the fight against cyber crime in the country.
Mr. Glory Omonsomwan Idehen, ISACA Abuja branch president who made the call during a walk organized to create awareness on the negative impact of cyber crimes lamented that cyber security has become a serious threat to the country.
While calling on the federal government to take proactive measures in curtailing the trend, Idehen described as unfortunate that youths involvement in cyber security both within and outside the shores of Nigeria has brought about a lot of shame on the country.
‘’Each report you hear about the Nigerian youth in the news is not very good. we have been hearing stories of Nigerian youths been involved in cyber crimes. Not just within Nigeria but outside the shores of this country.
‘’This has brought a lot of shame on the country. ISACA is using this opportunity to call on Nigerian youths to channel their energy from cyber crime to cyber security, because there are so many opportunities out there for them to be trained and acquire skills that will be useful to them.
‘’Cyber security is a threat to the financial industries, to businesses, to individual. Therefore, the essence of this work is to raise the awareness to every one of us that security is everybody’s business from the young to the old.
No one is immune from the cyber threat. That is the reason why we want to ensure that everybody is involved in this fight.
