APC Ward Chairmen Declare Support For Segun Abraham

The Conference of Ward Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the 203 political wards in Ondo state have unanimously declared their support for the candidature of Mr. Segun Abraham, Mr. Abraham is one of the leading gubernatorial aspirants of the party.
The Ward Chairmen show the support on Wednesday at a public declaration meeting held in Akure, the state capital. James Kolawole, the Conference Chairman said they decided to support Mr. Abraham due to his leadership qualities judging by his entrepreneurial skills and capacity to resuscitate the dwindling economy of the state. Kolawole who spoke with reporters shortly after the declaration said Abraham who is an Akoko born politician has been a foundational member of the opposition party noting that his candidature had already been recognized by the party’s national leaders.
He maintained that the conference of the ward chairmen of the APC decided to follow the footpath of their national leaders by declaring their support for Mr. Abraham because of his unflinching personality. “We the conference of ward chairmen in the 203 wards are declaring our stance today to support the candidacy of Mr. Olusegun Abraham as we head to the primary election of our great party.
“We are in support of the aspirant [Segun Abraham] that has been identified to have the most fitting capacities to overcome the economic challenges in Ondo state”, Mr. Kolawole said. The Conference Chairman disclosed that the National Leadership of the party summoned a meeting of the party’s executive in Lagos state and unanimously agreed to conduct a transparent primary election.
Kolawole added that some aggrieved members in the party wrongly translated the news on imposition of candidate that filtered in from the meeting held in Lagos with the party’s National Leader, Bola Tinubu. “The position of the National Leadership of the party is an informed one, not an imposition as wrongly branded by some aggrieved few within the state’s party structure”
He further stressed that the conduct of the primary election would be guided by the party’s constitution. The issue of imposition and endorsement of aspirant has polarized the members of the party with some aggrieved members organizing protest to kick against the idea. No fewer than twenty-five aspirants are jostling for the governorship ticket of the party ahead of the Saturday August 27th primary election of the party.
