Recall that President Tinubu on Thursday forwarded to the Senate 28 names of Nigerians to be confirmed as ministers in his cabinet
A Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Alhaji Shuaib Abdullahi who said the state deserves two ministerial slots urged the President to include nominee of the party in the state in the next batch of appointees to be sent for confirmation.
He said though, a legal luminary, Chief Lateef Fagbemi, SAN nominated from the state is an illustrious son of the state who is well respected across the country in his chosen field of law, there should be adequate reward system for loyal and dedicated members that toiled and worked for APC’s success in the rounds of election from Presidential/ National Assembly to State Governor /Assembly poll, where the party scored 100 percent.

Abdullahi said if the assumption that Fagbemi will be appointed Minister of Justice and Attorney General is true, his position can hardly benefit the masses of Kwara APC members because, it will be of much benefit to his legal professional career and legal system.
“While we are not against the nomination of one of our own and a respected legal icon, Chief Lateef Fagbemi, we are calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to ignore reward system in considering nomination for the next batch.
“It is an obvious fact that Kwara APC delivered 100 percent votes to the party , APC for Presidential and National Assembly Elections. Kwara was the first and one if the few State that gave APC hope and good results during the uncertainty period of Election in February this year. As we also won all the three senatorial and six House of Representative seats in the state for APC.
“Even, during APC presidential primary election in which our governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak was one of the coordinators for the then aspirant Bola Tinubu, our governor delivered all delegates (100%) votes from Kwara to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
“Now is pay back time in which the reward system must be activated 100 percent too. To whom much is given , much is equally expected. Kwara State deserves another minister in President Tinubu’s cabinet.
“If former Governor Nasir El- Rufai of Kaduna State, who performed less to KWARA in the Presidential election could earn for his state so far; position of Speaker, House of Representatives for Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, a Special Adviser to the President position for Hadiza Bala Usman and got himself nominated as minister, how then will President Tinubu going to reward Gov. Abdulrazaq Abdulrahaman and Kwara APC that delivered 100 percent vote for him and the party at all levels,” said Abdullahi, who said “to whom much is given, much is expected”.
He implored the President not to allow sharing of office and positions to cause acrimony in Kwara APC.
He said “knowing fully well the peculiar nature of Kwara politics and the fact that the opposition camps are still there waiting to reap from possible distability in Kwara APC”.
