Anioma State Creation: Ugoani, others commend, rally support for Ned Nwoko

The Ugoani of Okpanam, HRM Dr. Michael Mbanefo Ogbolu has assured the Senator representing Delta North in the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ned Nwoko of the support and solidarity of the good people of the community at all times, especially in his quest for the creation of Anioma State.

Dr. Ogbolu stated this in his palace when the Senator paid him a courtesy visit.

He commended Senator Nwoko for his effective representation at the National Assembly, stressing that the people of Delta North are now more sensitized about the happenings in the national assembly.

He said that since the clamour for the creation of Anioma State, nobody had planned resources for its actualization if not for Ned Nwoko, adding that the people of Delta North would reciprocate the gesture.

Earlier, Senator Nwoko said that Okpanam had grown because of its receptive dispositions to visitors from all parts of the country, noting that if the community was kept for only Okpanam people, the unprecedented level of development in the town would not have been achieved.

Recalling when they were inaugurated and committees assigned to them, including membership of the committee on Constitution Amendment, Senator Nwoko described the Anioma State creation as an equity State and a very important project to him .

Senator Nwoko urged the stakeholders and people of Delta North to sustain their support for Anioma State creation, emphasizing that the state creation Bill he championed was for the liberation of Anioma people.

In an interview with newsmen, the Isagba -Ajie of Okpanam, Chief (Dr.) Paul Nwayalani and the Coordinator, women support group for Senator Ned Nwoko in the 9 local government areas of Delta North, Mrs. Anthonia Chukwuedo lauded Senator Nwoko for the visit and for prioritizing the creation of Anioma State, just as Chukwuedo said that the project was a done deal.

The Isagba used the opportunity to call on the people of Okpanam to be peaceful while celebrating their new yam festival, reminding them that there was a need for them to uphold their cultural heritage and shun violence.

For his part, the Councillor representing Okpanam DISIEC ward 12, Hon. Jeffery Sunday Mordi explained that the Senator’s Bill for the creation of Anioma State was strategic for massive development of the region, saying that Senator Nwoko had been pursuing the project with renewed vigour and commitment.
