Anambra 2017: Youths urge Onunkwo to contest

As aspirants to the coveted office of the Governor of Anambra State for November 18, 2017 governorship election continue to emerge, youths of the state have urged Engr. JohnBosco Onunkwo to throw his hat into the ring for the race.
Addressing newsmen weekend at Awka, the state capital, spokesman of 21 Youth organisations, Engr. Obiora Ezeudu, said the youths with a population of about 2 million, earnestly want Onunkwo fly the flag of the youths of the state.
Ezeudu, who is the President of Anambra New Generation Vanguard, lamented that since the creation of Anambra State, youths have handed over tools of governance to the hands of the politicians to rig them into power.
He said: “The younger generation of Anambrarians have resolved that this is the time for the youths to be seen as responsible stakeholders with respect to State governance”.
Consequently, after due consultation, said the Ezeudu, the youths are urging Onukwo to run for the governorship of the state in November 18, 2017 governorship election.
“As youths we are going to support this cause morally, spiritually, financially and otherwise. Yes, they said the youths might not have the financial muscle to pull through this election but we have decided that every youth is a stakeholder and financier of this agenda. We will engage our fathers for their blessings. Our mothers will see reasons to support us,” he said.
Urging the youths to support this project, Ezeudu said they will engage Anambrarians “on a new conversation – the JohnBosco agenda”, stating that they have given Onunkwo 21 days to formally accept or decline this offer.
In his speech, Ebere Onunkwo of Grassroot Mobilisation for Grassroot Development, said the state was stranded and needed serious intervention.
He said Onunkwo was eminently qualified to govern Anambra State since he is not a neophyte in the politics of the state.
Ife Roland Joseph, who is the director of Onunkwo Foundation, said their principal had started to help Anambra youths 10 years ago as he has given over 300 scholarship in and around the state. He noted that Onunkwo has built hospitals and sponsored sports competitions within the state.
