Ambush: Police name 4 officers killed

…Launch massive hunt for fleeing bandits
The Nigeria Police have released the names of four its officers killed last Saturday in an ambush attack by bandits in Kaduna. The deceased Police Officers are: Inspector Bernard Odibo, Inspector Mamman Abubakar, Inspector Haruna Ibrahim and Sergeant Emmanuel Istifanus.
A statement issued by force spokesman Ag. DCP Jimoh Moshood said that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris mourns the unfortunate death of the deceased Police officers describing them as Heroes of the Force, whose remaining killers that escaped police repelled attack must be arrested and be brought to book.
In furtherance of the order, Idris, has directed the police to mount a massive raid and assault on bandits at Rigasa forest hideout, to arrest and bring to justice those who killed four policemen in ambush at the weekend in Kaduna.
Police said that the Team Leader and other personnel of the IGP-IRT repelled the attack and killed six (6) of the bandits but unfortunately lost these four (4) gallant and committed Police officers in the process. It recovered some catches of firearms and ammunition from the bandits’ hideouts in Rigasa forest.
The unfortunate ambush occurred while the IGP Intelligence Response Team Personnel were returning after a successful operations and arrest of some vicious/notorious kidnap for ransom suspects responsible for the kidnap of Sheikh Ahmad Adam Algarkawy in Rigasa, Kaduna State who regained his freedom recently.
Meanwhile, the IGP has directed befitting burials for the deceased officers and prompt processing and payments of the life assurance benefits and other entitlements to their families.
He also commiserates with the families of the deceased four Policemen and assured the public that despite the unfortunate attack the police will not relent in ensuring that crimes and criminalities would be brought to the barest minimum in the country.
