Amaechi receives NIMASA restructuring report, flags-off National Railway July 26

The Minister of Transportation, Honourable Chibuike Amaechi, on Monday in Abuja, received the investigative report of NIMASA restructuring and reforming Committee as part of the transformation measures geared towards positioning the maritime agency in Nigeria to international standard.

The Minister on receiving the report, said that a lot of issues had led his administration to set up the committee, as a measure to ensuring that maritime industry experiences the change, which the new Nigeria leadership preaches.

According to the Minister, the working condition in the Nigerian maritime industry is dehumanising.

His words: “I visited the resource center, the NIMASA library and I was amazed of what I saw. We had to inaugurate this committee because of the urgent need and find the true story of all the millions we used to hear that comes out of NIMASA. We need to ask ourselves of all the revenue that NIMASA generates. And we think this will be to the benefit of every Nigerian.”

Amaechi said that the report will be cross checked by the management of transportation ministry soon and if found implementable would wait no second to put to public consumption.

Speaking earlier, the Director General of NIMASA, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, while presenting the report to the Honourable Minister, on behalf of the committee chairman, stated that its committee, which was inaugurated on the 17th of May, 2016, swooped into action and had discovered many anomalies.
