Alternative Bank champions SDG action ahead of Africa Impact Summit
The Alternative Bank has reiterated its commitment to advancing sustainable development across Africa, as it prepares for the 2025 Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS), taking place July 10–11 in Lagos.
ASIS, co-hosted by Sterling One Foundation and the United Nations Nigeria, is expected to convene government officials, civil society leaders, development agencies, and private sector players to drive solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At a press briefing in Abuja, Garba Mohammed, Executive Director, North, of The Alternative Bank, called for urgent, coordinated action to confront Africa’s critical challenges.
“This year’s theme, ‘Scaling Action’, signals a shift from conversation to execution,” he said. “It’s time to deliver real, scalable solutions to poverty, climate change, food insecurity, and inequality.”

Mohammed highlighted the bank’s integration of the SDGs and the African Union’s Agenda 2063 into its core business strategy. “These are not abstract ideals for us—they shape how we invest, collaborate, and serve,” he added.
Since its inception, The Alternative Bank has pursued inclusive development through targeted support for youth, women, and smallholder farmers. The 2025 ASIS Summit is positioned to drive bold outcomes that will accelerate Africa’s path to sustainability through market-driven, collaborative solutions.
