AIT vs Tinubu: Court Adjourns N150bn Libel Suit to May 27

The N150billion libel suit filed by the National leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, against the African Independent Communications (AIT), was adjourned before an Ikeja High Court, on Thursday, to May 27 for further direction.
Justice Iyabo Akinkugbe adjourned the suit after listening to the submissions of Tinubu’s counsel, Mr. Ayodele Adedipe and Mr. Jeffery Kadiri, who represented AIT.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu had instituted the N150 billion suit against AIT for allegedly spreading false accusations on his personality through a documentary titled “Lion of Bourdilion”
According to the former governor, the documentary was politically sponsored in order to tarnish his reputation in the eyes of the populace.
The judge had granted an interlocutory injunction on April 1st stopping AIT from further airing the documentary, pending the determination of the libel suit.
Tinubu’s counsel, Adedipe, at the proceedings yesterday, informed the court that the claimant had filed Forms 17 and 18 which had been served on the defendant.
In his response, Kadiri agreed to the fact that the defendant had received the processes but was still within the 42 days period to respond to the applications.
