Air Force appeal to Jos electricity coy to waive N23 million outstanding bill

The Nigerian Air Force has appealed to the management of the Jos Electricity Distribution Plc (JED), to waive off the debt of accumulated N23 million bill owned to the Jos Disco.
The plea was made on Tuesday at the Jos South division of JED when the Commander of the Air Force Base Jos, Group Captain S.A Buhari and his team paid a courtesy visit to JED, commending its strength for the longer hours of quality supply of energy enjoyed in recent times.
Buhari said if the waiver is granted he will ensure that his formation will ensure prompt payment of electricity bill going forward.
Responding, the Regional Manager Bukuru Division JED, Engr. Olaniyi Ogunmakinwa said due to current economic realities faced by the company, waiver can not be granted at this time.
Ogunmakinwa advised the Air Force boss to ensure prompt payment of current bill while adopt a gradual reduction of accumulated bill, which could be worked out by the company based on understanding.
“Because of the challenges confronting us, we can not write off any debt.
But what I will advise you to do is to pay your monthly energy in full and ensure that you pay parts of your outstanding in gradual manner.
If you adopt this approach, it will not take time before exhaust the debt”, he said.

However he promised to do everything possible within his powers to ensure that the military formation is promptly attended to if the need arises.
Our correspondent reports that the Head Corporate Communications JED, Dr. Friday Elijah, who communicated the details of the visit to Journalists, admonished electricity consumers to approach the company for dialogue to fashion ways of reducing their accumulated bills.
