A’Ibom sues EFCC over freezing account, demands N50bn damages

The Akwa Ibom state government has sued the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) claiming N50 billion as damages for illegal freezing of its account recently.
The claim is contained in a lawsuit filed by the state government against the anti-graft agency in response to the alleged unlawful freezing of its account.
According to the suit No:FHe/uy/cs/137/18 between the state Attorney-general as Claimant, and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Attorney General of the Federal, Zenith Bank PLC, Skye Bank PLC and United Bank for Africa PLC as defendants, the Claimant queried why its account should be unlawfully frozen for over 72 hours.
