African trio score to help Nice rout Toulouse

Younes Belhanda, Jean Seri and Alassane Plea were all on the scoresheet as Les Aiglons retuned to the summit of the log after seeing off Le Tefece

The African trinity helped Nice return to the summit of Ligue 1 and also regain their three-point lead over second-placed Monaco.

In-form talisman Plea continued from where he left off in the previous game as he gave Nice the lead in the 23rd minute, netting his sixth goal in his last seven Ligue1 appearances and his eighth in 14 appearances for the Ligue 1 leaders this season.

Atlas Lions midfielder Belhanda added Les Aiglons’ second minutes later, deliciously lobbing the ball over the on-rushing goalkeeper after being exceptionally played through by Dante’s long ball from the back. The strike was the 26-year-old’s third of the season as he continues to impress since arriving from German side Schalke 04.

Côte d’Ivoire international Seri, put the game beyond Le Tefece when he added the third in the 65th minute with Plea turning provider after fantastic build up play.

Plea is slowly turning to be a crowd favourite with recent remarks likening him to Les Bleus legend Thierry Henry.

The 23-year-old striker has also filled the void caused by Mario Balotell’s injury given his goal scoring prowess.

With this clean sheet, Nice have conceded just nine league goals so far, no other team in Europe’s top five leagues has conceded less.
