Ado Bayero Mall sealed, staff, shop owners, customers stranded

The popular Kano shopping mall, Ado Bayero mall has been sealed off Wednesday over nonpayment of tax.
Daily Trust gathered that the mall was shut down by the Municipal Local government.
Some officials from the local government stormed the popular mall in the early hours of today and locked all entries into the mall with chains and padlocks.
Also, armed policemen and personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps were stationed at the main entrance of the mall to prevent entry into the mall.
When reporter visited the mall, both customers and personnel of the mall were seen stranded at the entrance.
Also, many customers could be seen turning back having seen the gates locked.
When approached for inquiry, some of the stranded workers said they could not comment on the development because they were not authorized to speak to press.
However, one of them, who pleaded for anonymity, said: “We were not briefed about the development and the manager went to the local government to settle the matter. We are waiting for the manager to come and tell us what to do next. But for now, no one can speak to you on this issue.”
Efforts to reach the Chairman of Municipal Local Government, Alhaji Mukhtari Ishaq proved abortive as all his mobile lines were switched off as at the time this reporter called the lines.
