Adamawa youths laud ex-MDGs co-ordinator, Garbajo

Youths in Adamawa State, under the auspices of Adamawa Youths Awareness Association and Social Developments Congress (AYADEC), in their hundreds, converged in Lelewal Hall and showered encomiums on Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Garbajo on his efforts to consolidate democracy by providing succour to the less- privileged in the state and at the country at large.
The leader of the group, Comrade Aliyu Marafa Adamu, emphasised that honour must be given to those that deserve it, because of what they were doing to save mankind from the shackles of poverty.
“As you can see us here in our great numbers, it is to appreciate and tell the whole world of what one of our own is doing and he deserves to be recognised and crowned with a feather of honour, because of what he is doing to support the Nigerian youths. This, indeed, is the consolidation of Nigerian democracy in action”, Marafa said.
“Because of this man, there is both cause for hope and certainty that the agony and protests of those who suffer injustice shall give way to peace and human dignity.
“The children of the world shall know the great work of this extra-ordinary leader and his fervent mission to right wrong, to do justice, and to serve mankind.
“Poverty, ignorance, disease, hunger, and racism have each seen effects of the valiant work of Adamu Abubakar Garbajo. Through him and others like him, never again will freedom rest in the domain of the few.
“The entire members of the Adamawa Youths Awareness Association and Social Development Congress salute him this day as a hero in the global pursuit to preserve the history and the legacy of the Nigerian Youths. We recognise him as a special epitome of youth empowerment for an award of his great exploits of supporting people”.
The youths enumerated the achievements of Garbajo, since when he was the Co-ordinator of Adamawa State Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), where thousands of youths were empowered.
According to them, Garbajo while in MDGs rehabilitated all the clinics in Adamawa State, he also provided a lot of job opportunities to people in the area of entrepreneurship, job creation, awarded contracts to many individuals and conglomerates, who, in turn, became independent making the state’s economy dependable.
That during his time in 2008/2009 in all villages and towns of the state were provided with solar powered boreholes that produce about 20,000 litres per day in over 161 locations representing the 21 LGAs of the state. In addition, he stocked the clinics with hospital equipment, including basic laboratory services, insecticide-treated bed nets and Artemeter/Lumefanthrine medicines.
That his ingenuous business had made international business men all the world during the 6th Global Entrepreneurship summit in Nairobi, Kenya, had awarded Adamu and many others young Africans as youth with great potentials to wake up African businessmen if they were well supported.
On their various submission some members of the group said Garbajo was a great philanthropist, having formed a non-governmental organisation known as Adamu Abubakar Garbajo Foundation, with principal aims to provide durable advantage through the implementation of development programmes to the less- privileged ones. The Foundation is seeking to alleviate poverty in communities by providing basic amenities, education for children and young adults, while also providing free medical care for indigent people.
The Foundation is currently giving out financial succour to over 500,000 widows and youths in Adamawa, Gombe and Yobe states, and Maiduguri.
One of the founding members and former President, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, stressed that they must do what it would take to support Garbajo as his foundation put smiles on the faces of many Nigerians.
