Access Bank partners UNICEF to support vulnerable children

Access Bank Plc and its partners, Fifth Chukker Polo & Country Resort and UNICEF hosted thousands of children from selected schools as part of events to commemorate the 2017 Access Bank UNICEF Charity Shield Polo tournament in Kaduna.
The pupils and their teachers spent the whole day at the foremost Fifth Chukker Polo & Country Club in Kaduna, engaging in various sporting activities including drawing and paintings.
Dr. Idris Baba,HIV and AIDS Specialist at UNICEF, commended Access Bank and Fifth Chukker for providing the platform during the charity polo tournament for the Nigerian children to mark the 2017 Children’s Day in a most special way.
“There is an important need for both private and public sectors to do a lot more in support of the Nigerian child, particularly the orphans and vulnerable children to enable them look forward to a better tomorrow,” he added.
Speaking earlier, Abubakar Kaita, Access Bank’s Zonal Head, CBD Zone, Kaduna, said the Bank would continue to support UNICEF in its campaign to protect the interest of the Nigerian child. “The 2017 edition of the Charity
Shield Polo Tournament is more than an affirmation of our commitment to socio-economic wellbeing of children and acknowledgement of the impact this initiative has had on the lives of the orphaned and vulnerable children in Kaduna State and its environ,” Kaita pointed out.
The Children’s Day event which remains the biggest highlight yet at the tournament, enabled the children in Kaduna State and its environs, to rekindle their childhood and display the potentials within them.
The biggest charity Polo tournament in Africa which is in its tenth year of Access Bank exclusive sponsorship, has so far raised more than N100 million for UNICEF for the alleviation of the plights of the underprivileged children especially those orphaned by HIV/AIDS. The initiative has no doubt created the space for a lot of them to enjoy
their rights to education.
There were songs, dance and drama performances by the pupils from Adamu Atta Primary School, Kaduna International Schools, Al-Amanah Academy, Rage Gem Academy and French International School, among others.
