Accept defeat, Bauchi Gov counsels Atiku‎, PDP

The major opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Presidential candidate in the 2019 general elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar have been advised to accept the outcome of the election in good faith.

Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar of Bauchi State who gave the advice in a press statement by his Press Secretary, Abubakar Al-Sadique on Wednesday called for support for the in-coming administration in the collective task of nation-building.

The Governor said, “democracy is about the will of the Almighty as expressed by voters through the ballot box”.

“I therefore urge the opposition to accept defeat and support the newly re-elected president since there is another chance to contest in future.” He said.

The statement added that, “We thank the Almighty Allah for the peaceful way in which the elections were conducted”.

The governor who said President Buhari means well for Nigeria maintained that this year’s presidential election is a vote of confidence in the change agenda of the All Progressives Congress.

“The election confirms that both the president and indeed the nation are on the right course of national rebirth on the part of Government and people of Bauchi state”.

“I assure President Buhari of the unalloyed loyalty and support of people and government of Bauchi state as he moves the nation to the next level.” Abubakar assured.

He also urged party supporters especially the youth to be extra careful in celebrating the victory to guard against untoward outcomes.

The governor urged party faithful to come out en-masse to vote-in the APC candidates in the forthcoming gubernatorial and state assembly elections on March 9, 2019.
