ABS sweat over ‘goal shy’ strikers

Chief Coach of ABS FC, Moshood Adebayo says the club’s backroom staff are sweating over the failure of their strikers to score from the numerous chances in recent matches.

The club is currently in the relegation zone, three places off the bottom of the table and in dire need of crucial points as they look to escape the drop after just one season’s in Nigeria’s top flight.

ABS dominated against Rivers United in their last NPFL game on Sunday but failure by the club’s marksmen to put away a plethora of chances saw the ‘Pride of Rivers’ escape with a point and Adebayo says things must change for the better in rapid fashion.

“We created a lot of chances (against Rivers United) and we must work on scoring before our next match against Wikki Tourists in Bauchi,” Adebayo said.

“We are going to improve on our goal scoring, Insha Allah (by the grace of God),” he stated.

The management of ABS FC recently issued a three match ultimatum to head coach, Henry Makinwa, beginning with the stalemate against Rivers United on Sunday.

It makes today’s clash against Wikki Tourists extremely vital for the youthful coach as he now has two more games to save his job.

ABS FC currently occupies 18th place on the 20-team NPFL standings with 36 points from 29 matches.
