Abia women in three- day summit over women, families, state, nation

Women in Abia, Wednesday, kicked off a three-day conference tagged “Abia Women Conference, Carnival and Prayer Summit with prayers to God over Abia women and their families, the state and the nation at large.

Led by the wife of the state Governor, Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu, the conference will feature carnivals on the second day and a prayer summit on the concluding day.

The occasion featured special songs by choirs of different churches, while the first reading of the Bible 1st Timothy, Chapter 2 verses 1-6 was taken by the wife of the governor, Nkechi Ikpeazu.

The second bible reading of 2nd Chronicle Chapter 7 verses 14-15 was taken by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Lady Vivian Oko Chukwu as the third reading from the book of Matthew Chapter 7 verses 6-13 was taken by the Commissioner of state Ministry of Women Affairs, Ugoeze Kate Onyemachi .

Preaching during the occasion, Mrs Philomena Umah Ukpai, the wife of a renowned evangelist admonished Abia women to be much alive to their responsibility.

According to her, women should shun from imitating others and be their selves, should re-discover themselves and their God-given talents and use such talents positively to the service of God and mankind.

She urged those in authority and the well-to-dos- in the society to offer selfless service to the down trodden in their society.

In her remarks, the wife of the state governor, Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu expressed her intention to make the occasion an annual event, stating that the event was designed to be one that will be used to pray for positive change and God’s intervention in the state.

She urged Abia women to focus on good family upbringing as a basic tool towards bettering the society.

The occasion was a harvest of who is who in the women folk in the state, including the wife of the late General Aguiyi Ironsi, Lady Victoria Aguiyi Ironsi.
