Roma’s Abdullahi stages comeback next season

AS Roma young Nigerian defender Nura Abdullahi has revealed that he hopes to establish himself in the top flight in Italy next season after an outgoing campaign during which he was sidelined by injury for several months.
Right fullback Abdullahi is on a season-long loan at Roma from Serie B side Spezia, but he has yet to make his debut for the capital city club with two rounds of matches to the end of the season.
“It has been a very difficult season for me. First, I had a surgery and was out for three months and then I returned and suffered an ankle injury in training with the youth team and I was out for five weeks,” he said.
“But I have been back now training again for the past two weeks.
“My target therefore is next season and hopefully God will make it possible for me to have a great campaign then.”
Like his better known compatriot and teammate Sadiq Umar, 18-year-old Nura is expected to bag a four-year contract with Roma in July.
Roma are currently third on the Serie A table, which already earns them a place in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
But they will automatically qualify for the Champions League should they topple Napoli from second place on the table.
Napoli are two points ahead of Roma with two matches to the end of the season on May 15
