Kano discharges 3 COVID-19 patients from isolation centre

Kano state Coordinator of the technical response team on COVID—19, Dr. Tijjani Hussainy, has said that three patients of coronavirus have been discharged after testing negative twice to the pandemic.
The state coordinator disclosed this in Kano on Tuesday, during the briefing by the task force.

“More shall soon be discharged soon by the grace of God. The process of discharging a patient requires two tests within a span of 48 hours in which his results are negative.
“Hence, with the available test centres, more will be confirmed negative soon. Initially, it was the absence of the test centres that delayed the discharge. With the availability of the test centres, we are now going to prioritize them in the testing,” the coordinator stated.
He explained that the team has 1,332 calls as at Monday while they have collected 332 samples.
He further gave a breakdown of how the samples collected were despatched for testing, saying that “we have sent 182 to Abuja, 60 to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital and 71 to Bayero University, Kano test centre.”
Meanwhile, the response team is following contact tracing 400 other people suspected of contracting the coronavirus.
Responding to questions at the end of the briefing, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state called on public and private hospitals to stop sending away patients for fear of not knowing their COVID-19 status.
