Man, 27, docked over alleged rape of minor

A 27-year-old man, Olubunmi Boluwaji, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court over alleged rape of a minor.Boluwaji, whose address was not given, is facing a charge of rape.

The prosecutor, Sgt.Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 9 in Ikere-Ekiti.Apata alleged that the defendant defiled a nine-year-old girl, and used a handkerchief to clean her blood.
According to him, the offence contravened Section 31 of the Child Rights Law of Ekiti State 2012.
The prosecutor asked the court for adjournment to enable him duplicate the case file and send it to the Office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
The plea of the defendant was not taken.
The magistrate, Mrs Kehinde Awosika, ordered that the defendant should be kept in police custody pending issuance of legal advice from the office of the DPP.Awosika adjourned the case until March 24 for mention.
