Police confirm 1 person dead, 14 others injured in Bauchi

The Bauchi state Police Command has confirmed the death of one Auwalu Sadau of Darazo, who sustained injuries after a clash with a rival group at a durbar celebration in the state.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Kamal Abubakar, who made the confirmation in a press release, said that 14 other persons who sustained injuries during the clash were rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital for medical attention.
According to the police, the incident occurred at 11:30am on Wednesday during durbar procession when district heads of Bauchi Emirate were paying homage to the Governor of Bauchi state at the Government House.
The police spokesman explained that “in the process, groups of hunters that were following the district head of Darazo Local Government and that of Duguri had a clash and as a result one Auwalu Sadau of Darazo was shot and died of his wounds.”
He disclosed that the prompt response of the police ensured normalcy was restored while 55 suspects were arrested in connection with the mayhem.
Exhibits recovered according to him include, 46 machetes, 13 knives, 15 daggers, one locally made gun and 13 bamboo sticks.
The police public relations officer said that investigation is in progress into the case.
