Man slaughters wife on suspicion of Infidelity in A’Ibom

Tragedy struck in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State when a father of five, Nkere Uta, slaughtered his wife with a machete on the suspicion that the she was having extra-marital affairs.
The incident according to eye witnesses occurred around 11: 00 am yesterday at Mbiabam in Ibiono Ibom local government area.
Nkere, it was revealed attacked the wife, Bella with a cutlass and inflicted several injuries on her which immediately led to her death.
The wife killer who is a vulcanizer was dragged to the palace of the Village Head of Mbiabam by youths of the community, where he was arrested after confessing to committing the crime.
In his reaction, the Village Head of Mbiabam community, Eteidung Asuquo Uwah expressed shock, describing it as the first of its kind.
He further revealed that the assailant’s attack of his wife could be due a case of mental ill-health.
“I woke up this morning and received a report of a man cutting the wife to death with machete. I sent youths there and they confirmed the incident.
“They brought the man to my palace and he confessed that he killed the wife. I remember 15 years ago that he was mentally disturbed and I believe it should the problem”.
The Akwa Ibom State Public Relations Officer, DSP Odiko McDon confirmed the incident and said that the wife killer has been arrested
He said that Nkere would be charged to court as soon as ongoing investigations have been concluded.
