Akeredolu begs Ondo civil servants to fly airline to avoid kidnap, bad roads

Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has asked civil servants in the state to make use of the newly introduced Air Peace Airline that commenced operation enroute Lagos-Akure to avoid the incessant case of kidnapping that bedevils road transport.

The Governor who stated this while speaking at the inauguration and commencement of flight operation by the Air Peace Airline at the Akure Local Airport in Ondo, expressed optimism that the commencement of flight operations to and from the state will help end kidnapping in the state as well as hasten the movement of business moguls trading between Ondo and Lagos.

He disclosed that the new offer which is mainly to attract investors will also help overcome the stress of journeying on a bad road network in the state if the civil servants will take the advantage.

According to Governor Akeredolu, “We do not issue threats but we want to imploy all our civil servants and all Ondo state indigenes to take advantage of this air services.

“You have less than 45 minutes flight from here to Lagos.

“You will be flying over bad roads, the arms of kidnappers cannot reach you up, and the arms of armed robbers can also not reach you.

“Don’t come and tell me from today, that you were kidnapped, you will be on your own, because the facility is there for you to fly over all these problems,” he added.

The Governor saluted the management of the Air Peace led by its Chairman/CEO Allen Onyeama for collaborating with the government of Ondo state.

He added that the airline was not in the state to make money but to help develop its economy and also add value to it.

“Change has power to stimulate both industrial growths, technological growth, all we aspire to have.

“This exercise today is a new beginning, I can assure you is one of those we want to use to stimulate growth in all aspect of our lives in Ondo state” Mr. Akeredolu said.

Onyeama, the CEO of Air Peace lauded the giant strides of the state government led by Governor Akeredolu while noting that it would also improve air transport system in the state.

He expressed the readiness of the Air peace to partner in the developments of the state by helping to bridge the stress of journeying through the bad roads.

Cecilia Uguama, the Manager of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in Akure said the commencement of the regular flight at the airport would help attract investors to Ondo state.

Mrs. Oguama sought the assistance of Governor Akeredolu in ensuring that the cargo terminal of the airport also kicks off to further boast and improve airline operations at the airport.
