Emir of Minna tourney gets boost

The chairman, Match Commissioners Appointment Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Comrade Ahmed Yusuf Fresh has donated a giant trophy to be competed for by youths in Minna Emirate.
Fresh presented the trophy Thursday to the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago, at his palace saying the football competition which will be organised by the state football association is to honour the Emir for his contribution to wise counselling of the youths.
According to him, “The state FA is trying to resurrect the Emir of Minna Cup which has become moribund for a very long time and the football competition would be used to asses future stars in and around Minna.”
Fresh who is also the Niger State FA chairman pointed out that the game of soccer has assisted in no small measure to taking away the minds of the youth from negative tendencies and promised to sustain all football competitions in Niger State.
“There are a lot of football competitions going on in Niger State, and it is our duty as football administrators to encourage them especially now that we have seen the enthusiasm among the youth to play football,” he said.
The Emir of Minna, Dr. Umar Farouk Bahago thanked the visiting state football association members for their support to the growth and development of football in Niger State.
“I want to specifically thank you all for your love and concern for the growth of football in my domain, I am also extremely happy for the trophy donated in my honour; we will support you all in every way possible, ” the Emir said.
