Massive participation at Lagos Power Oil Walkhearton 3.0

It was all fun recently when Power Oil, the vegetable cooking oil brand took Lagos by storm with the kick-off of the third edition of its annual health awareness walk, tagged “Power Oil WalkHeartOn” at the National Stadium, Surulere.
Despite the heavy downpour that flooded the greater part of Lagos, the event witnessed massive participation, as people came out en mass to join the healthy walk which started and terminated at the National Stadium in Surulere.
The annual heart health awareness walk strategically designed to promote a healthy lifestyle and remind Nigerians on the benefits of a daily fitness routine. It is aimed at encouraging Nigerians to walk at least thirty minutes every day to keep fit and stay healthy.
According to the statement made during Walk by the Brand Manager, Power Oil, Miss. Amisha Chawla “We are amazed at the turn out despite the weather situation, it clearly shows that the gospel of fitness/ health consciousness which the brand preaches is fast gaining momentum amongst Nigerians by the day. It really was an energetic walk spiced with some fast paced music to keep the crowd in high spirit throughout the rainy journey”
Confirming from our registration data base both online and offline, we recorded up to 2,032 participants in Lagos alone, however, Judging from the current scene, it is clear that the head counts surpasses that figure. Right now, we are gearing up for Enugu and Port Harcourt already for next Saturday” Chawla said..
Mrs. Omotayo Abiodun, the Public Relations Manager, Power Oil, it is obvious that Lagosians had a lot of fun with the brand while walking for a healthy heart alongside some popular comedians (Funnybone & MC Bonus) and musical artiste (Sound Sultan). The Power Oil WalkHeartOn 3.0 themed; “Walk for the heart” scheduled to hold across 5 major cities; will continue next Saturday in Enugu and Port Harcourt simultaneously while Abuja & Ibadan will follow in the second to the last Saturday in July.
The Lagos WalkHeartOn started from National Stadium towards Shitta Roundabout into Adeniran Ogunsanya Street to link up with Bode Thomas, then turning under Iponri bridge towards Alaka and finally back to the stadium.
Also the Nigerian Heart Foundation was also present to lend their full support to the activity by giving some health talk to corroborate the benefits of walking for the heart. Mr. Olatunde Ojo, Programme Manager, Nigerian Heart Foundation said a minimum of thirty minutes daily walk is powerful enough to help reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, maintain a good body weight and it ultimately enhances mental alertness and general wellbeing
