The Special Task Force, (STF), code named Operation Safe Heaven (OPSH), mandated to restore peace in the troubled parts of Plateau, Bauchi States and now Southern Kaduna, has deployed surveillance drone to trap those identified as Fulani bandits, who have hitherto been terrorizing S/Kaduna general area.

The drone was launched at the inaugural move of the ‘Internal Security Operational Exercise’ code named, “Operation Harbin Kunama 2”, strategically situated at Nimbia Forest in Kaduna State, near Jos.

Deployed to survey approximately 100 meters air space, the single high powered drone will also serve as cover for the Army as they set to advance to the bush where the alleged herdsmen have been uncovered to be hiding.

Speaking to newsmen, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratia, said the drone was deployed for monitoring purposes, to aid the tactical and operational formation embarked to flush out those hoodlums responsible for the wanton killings in Kaduna state.

Represented by the Chief of Training and Operation, Major General David Ahmadu, Buratia said that the Army will use the Operation to restore peace in the area in three weeks.

However, the flagging off of the Operation also witnessed free medical outreach, suggesting that the STF is consolidating on winning the heart and minds of the people, an act which has proven to have helped in warming the people towards the Nigerian Soldiers, says the Special Taskforce Commander, Major General Rogers Ibe Nicholas.

Gen. Nicholas said, OPSH has treated 960 adults and has dewormed, 400 children suffering from Malaria, typhoid, common cold and stomach pain, at the flagoff of the “Operation Harbin Kunama 2”.
