Lalong, Tambuwal, Ben Bruce, to Receive Nollywood Excellence Awards

Nollywood is set to honor outstanding personalities who have contributed to the development of the entertainment industry.
Top on the list of honor are Governors Simon Lalong of Plateau State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State and Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, among others.
Speaking with newsmen in Jos yesterday, the national coordinator Nollywood Iconic and Personalities Award, Mr. Valentine Nwauzo, said the awadees have supported the industry in many ways.
He said Governor Lalong has donated a building to house the Nollywood headquarters in Jos, while Gov. Tambuwal facilitated the release of N3b Nollywood intervention fund granted by the President Jonathan’s administration.
Mr. Nwauzo also laud Senator Murray-Bruce for the outstanding contribution in developing and encouraging movie producers with his Silverbird cinemas and the Nasarawa state governor, Al-Makura for accepting to host the forthcoming award night.
Nwauzo, who is also a film director, called on the federal government to invest and give necessary attention to the Nigerian Film industry for the creation of employment to the unemployed graduates in the society.
According to him, there is urgent need for the Federal Government to support and invest in the development of the industry toward creating an avenue where youths will be employed to reduce the challenges of unemployment in the country.
“Nollywood is the highest employer of labour which has help Nigeria to reduce the problem of insecurity challenges in the country,” he said.
Slated for May 5, 2017 in Lafia the Nasarawa state capital, the award will also recognize icons of Nollywood including Peter Edochie, Zack Orji, Liz Benson, Richard Mofe Damijo, Wale Adenuga, Ejike Asiegbu, Hilda Dokubo, Alex Usifo and Franka Brown among others.
