Recession is man-made, says Bishop Ezeofor

The Anglican Bishop of Ogbaru Missionary Diocese, Right Rev. Samuel Ezeofor, has called the Federal Government to change its policies so as to reduce the hardship and suffering Nigerians are going through this period.
Bishop Ezeofor, who spoke at Atani in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, during the dedication of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Atani, said the suffering and hardship the people of Nigeria are currently undergoing did not come upon them by accident rather it was man-made.
The Bishop, who said he also was experiencing the pains of recession, stated that he has seen what he has not experienced in the last 50 years of his life on this earth under the prevailing recession.
But in spite of all these sufferings by the people of Nigerians, said the Bishop, the leaders appeared indifferent, stating: “Our leaders should change their tactics, go back to the drawing board and bring out policies that will bring relief to the sufferings of Nigerians. We are praying that God comes to our aid otherwise Nigerians will continue to die in hunger, poverty and disease. The economy, almost everything have gone bad. This did not come on us by surprise. It is man-made. They should change their policies”.
The Bishop said it has not been easy for them in the last ten years the Diocese was created but God has been faithful to them.
“We have gone through difficult times in the last ten years but God has been faithful. We thank God for everything “, said Bishop Ezeofor, who hosted the Primate Church of Nigeria, Archbishop Nicholas Okoh, last Saturday during the dedication of the Diocesan cathedral.
Bishop Ezeofor commended those who gave for the building of the church and indeed propagating the gospel in the new diocese, stating that God has given every person one gift or the other, which he advised that each person should use what God has blessed him/her to serve and glorify God.
The Priest-in-charge of St. Stephen Anglican Church, Atani, Rev. Osita Oguaka, said building the church was not easy because of the area it is situated but God helped them to complete it.
He said “how he did it, I don’t know. I thank those who contributed for the building project. For those who have not, I appeal to them to do so, for God will bless them”.
Rev. Oguaka said spreading the gospel in Ogbaru has not been all that easy but due to commitment of the Bishop, other men of God and members of the church, God has been given them access into the communities in the area.
“There were a lot of dedication of church buildings and Cathedral to celebrate our tenth anniversary. People are repenting. I am optimistic that in the next ten years, growth the diocese will double both numerically and in church buildings”, said Rev. Oguaka.
