Training, Key to Public Service Efficiency- Ekiti HOS

Ekiti State Head of Service, Dr Olugbenga Faseluka has stated that the public service must be exposed to continuous training and retraining in order to position it for efficient and effective service delivery to the people.

Speaking at the first convocation ceremony of the State Staff Development Centre, the Head of Service asserted that the training of the workforce is the only guarantee to deliver a virile and stable public service.

Dr Faseluka who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Office of Establishments and Training, Mr Banjo Ojo said the Staff Development Centre was set up by the State government in order to impart requisite knowledge in the staff and build human capacity as required by the public service.

He opined that the graduands had acquired additional skills which would enhance their productivity at their duty posts.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Establishments and Training, Mr Ojo who was represented by the Director, Training department, Mr Andrew Olaoye commended the State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose for supporting the Centre despite the paucity of funds.

Ojo congratulated the graduands and urged them to put the training they have acquired to use as they return to their offices.

Also speaking, the Principal of the school, Mrs Olayinka Ipinmoroti urged the State government to upgrade the Staff Development Centre to a college or a Public Service Training Institute.

She thanked the state government for providing laptop computers and a computer projector to the school to enhance its productivity.
