Ohaneze youth leader appeals to south east governors over herdsmen activities
The Ohanaeze youth wing has appealed to governors of the South East to rise up and condemn the activities of herdsmen in Igbo land, particularly in Abia to avoid the wrath of Igbo Youths.
Speaking in Umuahia with “Maka Ndigbo” organisation shortly on arrival from Ohaneze Ndigbo National Congress in Enugu, the Abia State Youth Leader of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Comrade Okey Paul Nwankwo, decried the wanton destruction, harassment and raping of women and teenagers at Ndi-Abam, Ohafia, Arochukwu LGAs and other parts of communities in the South East, warning that the youth will no longer continued to fold arms watching the menace of herdsmen tormenting their lands and call on the Governors to step in without further delay.
According to him, “the youths have endured enough, our people are been attacked, the women and teenagers are been raped, crops are been destroyed yet they are threatening our lives, enough is enough”, and congratulated the new Ohaneze Ndigbo National President Chief John Nwaodo and his team for emerging victorious.
He also lauded the State Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for his immense supports to Ohaneze Ndigbo both National and State level, just as he assured the National Youth Leader of Ohaneze Ndigbo Mazi Okechukwu Isigozoro of total supports of the State Youth Wing and promised to work in consonance with his leadership to ensure the desired success across board.
On his mission, the State Youth Leader and Special Assistant to the Governor said under his watch, youths in the State will work in synergy with State Government to address the problem of poverty, youth unemployment and restiveness, kidnapping and pipe line vandalization, while assuring his leadership transparency, accountability, peace and unity as well as to promote education among youths.
In his words, “I will be a bridge between Government and Ohaneze Youth and ensure youths in the 17 Local Government Areas of Abia State remain proactive and achieve success”.
The youth leader further disclosed that for future government to emerge in elective power in South East, that they must be endorsed by Ohaneze Youth even before coming out for election as according to him, era of unfit persons occupying government leadership positions in Igbo land was over.
He maintained the present Ohaneze Youth was the only identity for any Igbo man or woman that want to excel in politics should seek clearance from, or forget his or her ambition for those who have the interest of youths at hearts.
He charged south east youths to avoid acts capable of tarnishing the image of Ndigbo, warning them against being used as political thugs by ambitious politicians to cause mayhem in the society as his leadership will not protect any one or group found in any criminal acts.
