Family of politician killed in Enugu demands for justice

The family of a  frontline politician and human rights crusader, Chief Ejike Onah, popularly called Papa Nsukka gruesomely murdered four years ago in Nsukka, Enugu State have demanded that the perpetrators be brought to justice.

A relation of the deceased, Pastor Obodoike Onyishi appealed to authorities to intervene by making the culprits accountable for their action.

Speaking to Daily Times in Enugu, Onyishi a pastor at the Sabbath Church said it was quite lamentable that their brother’s killers were still moving freely and causing more troubles at Agbani community in Nsukka.

He noted that one of the alleged killers of the deceased have already giving names and chilling accounts of how they murdered the deceased in front of his gate in 2013.

Onyishi also revealed that one Osita Ezema has been going around collecting money from some of the alleged culprits to cover up their involvement in the dastardly act.
“Yes, almost the entire Agbani Community now know those behind the killing of Papa Nsukka four years ago and some of the killers are still walking freely without any plan by those in authority to arrest and prosecute them.

“The community is aware that the brutal killing of the former chairman of the neighbourhood watch was hatched at the residence of one Anthony Agu and also how the traditional ruler of Nkpunano autonomous community, Igwe Patrick Okolo supported the launch of a new watch group to rubbish the efforts of Papa Nsukka led neighbourhood watch group as at that time.

“The then police Area commander, DPO in the area as well as the commissioner for human development and poverty reduction in the state Hon. Obinna Mbeke were aware of the confusion generated over the launch of Ogbeagu neighbourhood watch before the death of Papa Nsukka because they are in possession of the numerous petitions written by the community.

Onyishi noted that after the death of Papa Nsukka in 2013 as the chairman, the vacuum created is still been contested as majority of the elders and the community wants Otti Longinus as the chairman while some mischief makers in the community are rooting for one Osita Ezema.

He re-called that apart from Onyebuchi Agu and Uchenna Onyishi, who were arrested as soon as Papa Nsukka was killed, other suspects have been left to move freely.

Onyishi called on the Inspector General of Police and the state commissioner of Police to revisit the case of the death of Papa Nsukka urging him to arrest and prosecute the remaining alleged killers of the popular politician as those in detention have confirmed and revealed identities of other culprits.

“We are using this medium to prevail on the Inspector General of Police as well as the State Commissioner of police to get justice for this traumatized family.

“I know that nothing will bring our brother back to life but authorities should ensure that the perpetrators must not go unpunished”, he said.
