Oyo lifts Etisalat U-15 School Cup

The soccer team of Asegun Comprehensive High School, Ibadan, Oyo State, has emerged champions of the Etisalat U-15 School Cup concluded at the weekend at Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos.
The team defeated Fosla Academy of FCT, Abuja, by 3-2 on penalties after a pulsating 2-2 draw at regulation time.
The match was watched by a mammoth crowd of soccer fans who thronged the arena to catch a glimpse of the players in action. And Extra Time gathered that the fans were not disappointed as they were thrilled by the scintillating soccer skills from the young lads.
Rasheed Qudus and Rauf Jubril scored for Oyo State team during the regulation time of the explosive encounter, while Adejoh Gabriel and Prosper Ojukwu had their names on the score sheet for Fosla Academy.
After the excruciating and energy sapping encounter, Oyo goalkeeper, Abraham Femi won the Golden gloves award. He conceded just 2 goals all through the tournament.
Also Prosper Ojukwu of Fosla Academy emerged the Most Valuable Player (MVP) as well as the highest goals scorer with 20 goals to his credit from the regional play-off to the national finals.
In the third place match played earlier in the day, Kwara State defeated Enugu State by 3-1.
The national champion, Asegun Comprehensive High School, Ibadan, Oyo State, received the Champions Trophy and a cash prize of N2 million educational award while its players went home with N50,000 each.
However, the second-placed team, Fosla Academy of FCT, Abuja,  went home with N1 million with their players pocketing extra N30,000 each, while the third-place winner, Kwara State, received the sum of N750,000.00 for their efforts with its players receiving N20,000.00 each.
