Umoru backs MFM for NPFL glory
MFM FC striker Isah Akor Umoru has said his dream is to finish the ongoing top flight with the newly promoted side on a high.
The Lagos-based side are third in the 20-team top flight with 10 points from a possible 15 in the five-week old league.
Umoru said his side’s standout performance so far in the ongoing league season has been a huge shock to their doubters.
“The dream and wish of every team at the start of a new season is to win the league shield as well as stand out as a player. Ours is not different from this lofty goal.
“As debutants in the NPFL I think we have started very well to the shock of our doubters.
“I understand some people did not give us any chance to be where we are at the moment after week five football actions.
“We have achieved the humble mark due to hard work, dedication and God’s grace and favour upon us.
“We will not be overwhelmed or head swollen by our performance, but work harder to achieve more successes in the other matches,” said the former Heartland marksman.
Umoru said his side hope to continue their decent performance against El Kanemi Warriors in Sunday’s NPFL matchday 6 clash at their fortress, Agege Stadium, Lagos.
“Come Sunday in Agege against struggling side El Kanemi Warriors we hope to come out strongly to claim the three points at stake.
“I know it will be a tough challenge facing a side like El Kanemi Warriors but we believe with hard work and luck on our side we will overcome the Maiduguri side,” said Umoru.
