32-years -old man docked over robbery

A 32 year old man, Israel Chika Obi, was arraigned on last Friday before an Ikeja Magistrate Court over alleged conspiracy, felony and armed robbery to the tune of N2.4million.

The alleged crime was said to have occurred at Ajegunle Apapa, Lagos, at about 3:30am on January 29, 2017.

According to the prosecutor, Simeon Imhonwa, the accused, in company of other gang members who are currently at large, armed with guns, attacked one Mr. Sunday Matthew Edigbe, and carted away N1.3million, a Galaxy Note 5 valued at N175,000, Sony Experia phone of worth N215,000, golden chain with a market value of N300,000, a wedding ring valued at N120,000, three gold plated wrist watches and a Blackberry Z 30 worth a combined value of N320,000.

The accused, Chika Obi, however pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

The prosecutor further informed the court that the offence contravened sections 297 and 296 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state, 2011.

The magistrate, B.O. Osunsammi, granted the accused bail with the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The matter was adjourned till July 3, 2017 for trial.
