31,000 Indian migrants reside in Nigeria – Immigration boss
The Nigerian Immigration Service has revealed that Nigeria currently houses over 31,000 Indian citizens, making them the largest group of foreigners in the country.
In a recent report, the Service said over 81,000 non ECOWAS migrants are currently resident in the Country.
The Migrant residency report, released for the month of August, showed that there were 31,660 Indians living legally in Nigeria.
In a press statement signed by the service Public Relations Officer, DSC S James, on Friday, the comptroller general of immigration service, Muhammed Babandede confirmed the release of these figures is in line with its statutory mandate of the service.
The report shows that 2,694 US Citizens; 3,946 Britons; 17,995 Chinese; 6,295 Lebanese and 1,295 Germans are living legally in Nigeria, nothing that 17,118 foreign nationals from 92 other countries resident in the country.
