2023:INEC declares PDP, Agbu winner of guber election in Taraba

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have declared Col. Agbu Kefas of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the March 18th Governorship election held across the 16 Local Government Areas of the State.
Declaring the result early Tuesday morning at the INEC Collation Centre in Jalingo, the Returning Officer, Professor Mohammed Abdullaziz said Kefas scored a total number of 257,926 votes to emerge victorious.
Abdullaziz, who doubles as the Vice Chancellor, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University said Professor Sani Yahaya of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) polled a total number of 202,277 votes to come second while Senator Emmanuel Bwacha of the All Progressive Congress (APC) got 142,502 to get third position.
“The Social Democratic Party (SDP) flagbearer, Danladi Baido scored 28,274 votes”, he said.
The Returning Officer, who described the election in the state as credible, free and fair enjoined the people of the state to embrace one another in peace saying they don’t have any other state but Taraba.

Our Correspondent who monitored the collation of results and declaration of the winner at INEC headquarters in Jalingo revealed that Kefas won 11 of 16 LGAs in the state.
Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after being declared winner, Col. Agbu Kefas assured Tarabans that his campaign promises and pledges across the three Senatorial Zones of the State are realizable and redeemable.
While thanking the people of the State for voting overwhemly for him, Kefas assured that they will see a new Taraba that they are looking forward to.
He however called on his other Contenders to come along with their blueprints, join him for the development of the State of their dream.
Also speaking in an interview, Governor Darius Ishaku expressed happiness that PDP has made it again at the Polls.
“I am delighted because I am going to hand over the leadership of this State to another PDP person”, said Ishaku.
He appreciated the efforts of all and sundry that made the Electoral processes a success.
