2019: Sulu-Gambari denies vowing to abdicate throne if Buhari wins

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari says he has never vowed to abdicate his throne if President Muhamnadu Buahari wins 2019 presidential election, describing the allegation as “unfounded”.

The Emir who spoke through Alhaji Salihu Woru-Mohammed, Magaji Nda of Ilorin made the clarification at a news conference in llorin.

Woru- Mohammed, the General Secretary of the Magaji and Alangua Forum in the llorin Emirate condemned the statement wrongly credited to the Emir.

He urged the people of the state and entire country to disregard the false statement circulating on the social media, saying it was aimed at tarnishing the image of the royal father.

“There was no time the Emir of Ilorin promised to vacate his throne if President Muhamnad Buhari emerged victorious for second term in office “, he said.

The forum urged politicians from the Ilorin Emirate in particular and the state at large to eschew violence before, during and after the elections.

The Magaji Nda noted that no meaningful development could be attained in an atmosphere of chaos and acrimony and advised politicians to ensure trouble-free elections in the state.

The forum cautioned politicians in the state against inflammatory utterance or statement to one another that can trigger off crisis among them.

The forum further appealed to the good people of Ilorin Emirates to continue to live in peace, unity and harmony despite political and religious different.

The Daily Times, reports that 300 district heads from the four local government areas that made up the llorin Emirate attended the occasion.
