It was a night of glitz, rhythm, and digital innovation as Nigerian music sensation Zlatan Ibile was officially announced as the brand ambassador for leading crypto platform Jeroid, during the company’s grand 8th-anniversary celebration, fondly dubbed The Jeriversary.
The event held on Monday, May 26, brought together industry stakeholders, cultural icons, and crypto enthusiasts under one roof to mark a defining moment in Jeroid’s journey.
Zlatan, whose real name is Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, thrilled guests with his presence, bringing his trademark charisma and energy to the occasion. Widely known for his 2018 hit single “Zanku (Leg Work),” the street-hop icon’s appointment is being hailed as a bold step toward bridging the gap between cryptocurrency and Nigerian pop culture.
The glamorous evening featured electrifying dance displays, magic, comedy, and a thought-provoking panel discussion on the future of blockchain in Nigeria. Renowned comedian Kenny Blaq lit up the stage with a rib-cracking performance, while cultural dancers added colour and vibrancy to the celebration.
Adding gravitas to the event was the attendance of Mr. Ayo Adeagbo, Special Assistant to the President on Art, Culture and Creative Economy, whose presence affirmed the growing recognition of digital innovation within the corridors of power.
Jeroid CEO Mr. Jeremiah Mayowa reflected on the company’s remarkable transformation since its inception in 2017. He proudly highlighted Jeroid’s milestone as Nigeria’s first ISO-certified crypto exchange in 2024, followed by a recertification in 2025.
“This is only the beginning,” Mayowa declared. “Zlatan represents the energy, hustle, and creativity of Nigeria’s youth — the same spirit that has powered Jeroid from day one. We are building something bigger than crypto; we’re building a movement.”
During the panel session, Obinna Iwuno, President of the Stakeholders in Blockchain Technology Association of Nigeria (SiBAN), Mr. Obinna Egbuniwe from the SEC’s Fintech and Innovation Office, and Jeroid COO Hassan Eniola delved into the urgent need for regulatory clarity in Nigeria’s crypto space. Eniola specifically noted that while innovation is thriving, the lack of strong policy has left the industry vulnerable to scams.
Despite the challenges, the evening was one of optimism and celebration. For many in attendance, Jeroid’s growth story is more than just corporate success — it’s a testament to Nigerian resilience, creativity, and the boundless potential of youth-led innovation.
With Zlatan now onboard as brand ambassador, Jeroid is positioning itself not just as a tech company, but as a cultural force — ready to take on the next chapter of Africa’s crypto evolution.
