Youths blame Orji over crisis rocking PDP councilors’ primaries

The decision of the state Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to cancel its recent councilors’ primaries and conduct a re-run has attracted massive protests from Osisioma PDP Youths.

The youths who in their numbers converged in the local government area headquarter protesting the call by the PDP leadership in Abia to conduct the ward congress primary re-run election also blamed the immediate past governor, Chief Theodore Orji and his son, Chinedu Orji, for being the brain behind the crisis

The youths displayed placards some of which read “T.A Orji leave Osisioma Ngwa LGA alone, we say no to imposition of candidates in Osisioma, no re-run election in Osisioma, release the result of our last congress primary and Ikuku mind your constituency. “

It will be recalled that on October 21 2016 PDP in Abia conducted ward primary election across the state, including in Osisioma LGA wards which produced councilors and the party at the state level had two days later through the state radio, announced the cancellation of the entire 18 wards of Osisioma Ngwa LGA on the grounds of rigging.

This announcement had attracted a mass protest at the secretariat from the councilors who won and in solidarity, the chairmanship aspirants from the area whose election is coming up soon, as well as major stake holders and supporters from the area saw the cancellation as an affront and pervert of justice by the party at the state level to install someone of their choice and vowed to resist any attempt to scuttled the election they said was transparent, free and fair.

Addressing the protesters, a stakeholder and the immediate past Deputy Chairman of PDP in the state, Chief Allen Nwachukwu, noted that what was happening in the LGA was most unfortunate, adding that the last ward election was peaceful and devoid of any crisis wondering why the party at the state level would single out Osisioma and cancel the entire 18 wards without any cogent reasons.

He blamed Orji of fuelling the crisis in the LGA because of his personal ambition and reminded him that it was Osisioma’s vote that gave him the victory to the Senate and pleaded with the former governor to leave the LGA alone “I join my brothers to tell Orji; leave us alone”.
