Wrongfully Terminate Workers of Air Nigeria Development Limited get Justice
The long awaited judgment in the case of  Mr. Livinus Olisakwe& 4 Ors. (Suing for themselves and on behalf of the sacked staff of Air Nigeria) Vs. Air Nigeria Development Limited has been delivered.
It is on record that on the 5th of September, 2012, Air Nigeria Development Limited (Formerly known as Virgin Nigeria Airways Limited) which was into the business of airline management and provision of air transport for public use suspended its operations and terminated the employment of over 500 of workers in its employ, forcefully ejecting all its workers from their employment and leaving them helpless. The workers who were terminated on the face of the Newspaper Publication were assigned a different fate on the said day with hundreds of workers unable to fend for their families.
The action which was instituted at the National Industrial Court was filed and prosecuted by Messrs. Ogunsanya & Ogunsanya on behalf of the workers and was finally determined on the 21st day of January, 2016 where Justice J.T Agbadu-Fishim delivered his judgment in favour of the workers, declared that the termination of their employment was wrongful and ordered that their arrears of salary and other entitlements be paid to them.
The effect of the above is that, what appears to be a major setback and agonizing days in the lives of ex-workers of Air Nigeria Development Limited in 2012 is now over after several years. Mr Jaja Somiari -Dandison while speaking on behalf of the workers informed their members that they will do whatever it will takes to ensure that the judgment of the Honourable Court is strictly enforced and the workers get all their entitlements.
