Wike salutes conquering Rivers United

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has saluted Rivers United following their sparkling 3-1 victory over Enugu Rangers.
A brace from Bernard Ovoke and a superb long range finish by Christian Weli gave the ‘Pride of Rivers’ the deserved win over table-topping Enugu Rangers in the exciting match day 14 clash decided  at the Yakubu Gown Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
Rivers United are sixth on the NPFL table with 22 points from 14 matches.
Governor Wike praised the team for their continued hard work and determination while charging them not to rest until victory is assured.
“I want to commend the members of Rivers United for the impressive victory over Enugu Rangers,” he remarked.
“This is indeed a job well done.
“For them to have defeated the current league leaders, it shows that they know what the task ahead is all about.”
While wishing the team more success, the Governor promised to offset the balance of financial entitlements owed them by the former administration in Rivers State.
In a related development, Rivers State sports commissioner Boma Iyaye has also joined the chief executive of the State in sending words of commendation to Rivers United.
Iyaye, who was at the game inside the Yakubu Gowon Stadium on Sunday, said the team showed great resolve that exemplifies the true Rivers spirit.
