Why Bisi Akande Shunned Buhari’S Campaigns – Adesiyan

Police Affairs Minister, Alhaji Abdul Jelil Adesiyan, has given reasons why former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande has not been attending the rallies of its Presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.

According to Adesiyan, the former governor of Osun State could not forget the horrors Buhari as head of state subjected leaders of the defunct UPN to including the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

He also spoke on why President Goodluck Jonathan deserves another term in office saying he has performed better than his predecessor in office.

Adesiyan, who stated this during a house-to-house campaign for President Jonathan in 10 Local Governments in Osun West Senatorial District, emphasised that no past president has achieved what Jonathan achieved in the last four years.

He described President Jonathan as one of the best presidents Nigeria has ever produced, adding that it was in line with the prediction of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo had that “One day, an Ijaw man will rule this country”.

While addressing the mammoth crowd, Adesiyan charged the people of the state to come out en-mass on Saturday to cast their votes to re-elect President Jonathan.

He said Buhari was not the right choice for the country as being claimed by the opposition APC, stressing that “a man can not be better than his character, so people of the state should vote for God’s choice which is Goodluck.”

Adesiyan assured the people of the state that PDP would soon reclaim its stolen mandate through the process of court.

He said Obasanjo’s administration was not different from the military, adding that “Jonathan is the real second civilian president after Shehu Shagari, as his government represents peace and tranquillity and that is why he must be reelected.”

“He is poised to revamp the decayed infrastructure and this can be done if he is given the chance to continue the great job he has started. The rotational government must not be distorted so that one zone would not be short changed. If Jonathan wins and most of our candidates for the National Assembly did not win, the president will not enjoy what he is supposed to enjoy, this is why our candidates must be voted at all levels.

“The president has promised to implement the report of the Confab so that Yoruba will be given its rightful position in the scheme of things in Nigeria. “Jonathan’s government is people oriented that is why he didn’t oppose the use of Smart Card Reader. He urged the electorate to collect their PVC so that they can vote for their respective candidates.

“If no human being can dethrone Almighty God, no human being can dethrone Jonathan since he is ordained by God. All groups including Yoruba socio-cultural groups have endorsed Jonathan.

“Buhari is a failure because he put Awolowo under house arrest, he did the same thing to Ambrose Alli and Bisi Akande and that is why the former governor did not show up in Buhari’s political rally. We have not experienced any political assassination during Jonathan’s Administration”, he stressed.
