We have no hand in Obasa’s impeachment – Lagos APC

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from the impeachment of the former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.

The party insisted that the process leading to the Speaker’s removal was totally prerogative of the House of Assembly and not the affairs of the party.

Lagos APC’s spokesman, Hon. Seye Oladejo, stated that the development reflected the independence of the legislative arm of government.

He said: “His impeachment is not a party affair; it’s the entire business of the House of Assembly. It has nothing to do with the party. They enjoy their independence as one of the three tiers of government.

“As an independent body, we have to accept what the members of the House have put in the public domain. Politics is about intrigues and interests, and the only thing permanent is your interest at a particular time as a politician. That is universal and not peculiar to Nigeria.”
