WCQ: NFSC will mobilise support for Eagles—Ladipo
As the double header 2018 World Cup qualifiers between the Super Eagles and the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon approaches, President General of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo has assured that members of the club will be fully mobilised in Uyo and Yaoundé to give the Super Eagles maximum support when they clash with the reigning African champions.
He told Extra Time that they are in contact with their members in Cameroon and other African countries like Ghana, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire and Mali who have all indicated interest to storm Yaoundé to give total support to the national team.
“We’ve already started preparations to have a full house in Uyo in the first leg and are mobilising our members in neigbouring African countries of Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Mali and even in Cameroon for the reverse fixture and they are all preparing to be on ground for the return leg.
“You are quite aware that during the last African Women Championship (AWC) hosted by that country, we mobilised our members to ensure that the Super Falcons won the trophy and that is what we are going to do for the World Cup qualifier,” he said.
He noted that although the current African champions are talking tough ahead of the ties, but he is confident that the Super Eagles are capable of beating them in Uyo and picking a point in the reverse fixture.
“I want Nigerians not to be discouraged by the poor performance of the national team against Bafana Bafana of South Africa in a Nations Cup 2018 qualifier match in Uyo. The coaching crew have seen the error in the team especially in the defence and goalkeeping departments and will make the necessary corrections before that game.
“Although Cameroon is the current African champions and a rugged side but we have the players who can deliver the goals and if our defence is solid, they cannot stop us from going to Russia,” he assured.
On the newly employed Italian goalkeeper trainer for the Super Eagles, Ladipo noted that he will support the idea if he is better than the local coaches attached to the team.
