Utaka joins Ismaily on two-year deal

Former Nigeria international John Utaka is smiling to the bank after he agreed a two-year contract with his former Egyptian club Ismaily.
“John Utaka got a hefty sign-on fee which is comparable to what you would get even in Europe, that was why it was not difficult for him to come back to his former club in Egypt,” disclosed a source close to him.
He first featured for Ismaily between 2000 and 2001, during which time he scored 17 goals in 21 appearances.
A source close to the former Portsmouth of England striker further revealed that he is now awaiting his work permit in France, where he now lives.
The 34-year-old Utaka signed as a free agent after his contract with Turkish club Sivasspor was not renewed last year.
He has previously played in Qatar, France, England and Turkey.
