US to Rehabilitate 275 Rescued Sambisa Women
The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. James Entwistle, has assured that the United States of America would assist in the provision of psycho-socio support to 275 women and children rescued from the Sambisa forest.
He made this known when he paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Adamawa State, Mr. Bala James Ngilari, at the Government House, in Yola.
“I am in Yola to attend the commencement ceremony of the American University of Nigeria but, as is my hobby, to visit the internally displaced persons (IDPs) whenever I come around”, he said.
Entwistle described the situation of the IDPs as pathetic and worrisome that urgent support shall be given unto the rescue women and children to make up their psychology in-balance.
He said the support by the U.S. is not only for Adamawa, but the entire north-east of the country devastated by insurgency attacks.
The ambassador added that the U.S. Agency for International Development was engaged in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the IDPs in the north-east part of the country.
According to him, what was before the government and the international donor agencies was a big challenge of reconstruction and rehabilitation, creating environment so that the victims of insurgency could go back home.
He commended the Adamawa Peace Initiative for living up to the expectations of the public.
Nggilari thanked Entwistle for visiting the IDPs to see things for himself and commended international donor agencies for the support.
