UNIABUJA ASUU chair denies report on impending strike

The University of Abuja Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr. Ben Ugheoke, on Tuesday in Abuja, denied online media reports that quoted him as announcing an impending strike by the association slated for October 2, 2016.
In a press statement made available to newsmen, the UNIABUJA ASUU boss further denied granting interview to any media on the regard.
He said: “My attention has been drawn to a publication making the rounds on social media and the internet, captioned: ‘ASUU: Union to begin strikes, 2nd of October’.
‘’The article is said to have been authored originally by one Press Team of University of Abuja. There are many renditions of the said article, and all are purportedly based on an interview granted by Dr. Ben, Chairperson, ASUU-UNIABUJA’’.
‘’The general public and ASUU NEC should know and note that no one time came, either as journalist or any Press Team to interview me. I hereby denounce such a publication as the work of mischief makers, targeted at misleading the unsuspecting public about the trajectory of the struggles of ASUU, which are aimed at revitalising the university and indeed, the education system of Nigeria’.
Recall that Dr. Ugheoke had lately being in the forefront for the struggle for improved facilities and standards in the nation’s education system.
